Remember that your CV is the first impression a potential employer will have.

The client will choose whether to further your application based on your CV. You must ensure you include all relevant details in order for us to match you for the perfect role. Your CV should be approximately 2-4 Pages - the more concise and to the point the better.

NOTE: You probably need more detail on your CV if you are looking for permanent work.

Personal Details

  • Name
  • Address
  • Contact Telephone Numbers
  • Email Address
  • Nationality - include Visa Status

Education & Qualifications

  • List education in reverse chronological order.
  • Name of university or college and dates of attendance.
  • List qualification and subject.
  • For recent PhDs include a short paragraph outlining the subject matter of your thesis.
  • Number of GCSEs and grades.
  • The above is a suggestion and the amount of details may depend on how many years of experience you have got.

Skills

  • Include a list of all your key IT skills.
  • Mark your level of expertise for each skill.
  • How many years experience in the workplace (not training) do you have for each skill.

Work Experience & Achievements

  • List jobs in reverse chronological order.
  • Include most detail on most recent job.
  • Use Bullet points.
  • Be succinct.
  • Begin each point with a verb - this helps your CV appear more punchy and focused.
  • Include relevant key achievements -preferable as a separate section, although may also be included within duties and responsibilities.
  • Include a list of the IT skills used in each role.
For each role include:

Work Experience

  • Dates of employment; include month & year.
  • Name & location of employer (Address not necessary).
  • Job title/position.
  • Outline of your duties & responsibilities.

Achievements

  • Situation/Task: What you were faced with in order for you to take the…
  • Action: What you actually did to bring about the…
  • Result: Increased efficiency, saved money, time etc.

IT Skills

  • List your key computing skills and languages used within the role - this must be reflective of your overall list listed previously in your CV.

Training

  • List any training courses attended that are relevant to your experience.
  • If you have gained qualifications through training courses you should include these within your Education & Qualifications section at the beginning of your CV.

Other

  • Include any positions of responsibility.
  • Unless your hobbies are especially relevant, don't include them.
  • It is not necessary to include referees, just write 'supplied on request'.
